Postponement of the 2021 tournament
The 2021 Asia Cup, originally scheduled to take place in June, has been cancelled and postponed to 2022, a decision taken by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The government was confident of securing June 2021 as a suitable date for the Asia Cup.
The Board further added that the PCB has swapped the hosting rights of the tournament with the Sri Lanka Cricket Board and hence the SLC will now host the Asia Cup scheduled to be held in June 2022, while the PCB will host the 2023 Asia Cup.
